Does God Really Care?

All the time, we pray to God, “help us do good things at large.” In return, we expect good things to be done to us. This is the reciprocation that we think we deserve. And when that does not happen, and we have to suffer, we ask the question, “God, do you really take care?” Right from beginning, the behaviour that we did with God was wrong. It began with trade and reciprocation. We told God that if you do this, I will do this and then we had expectation. This led to wrong understanding. We may have right intentions to do good things but then we look at the results. When God does, he does without expectation; then why do we expect? Even God may sometimes test you and your intentions. He may put you in adverse situations and see whether you can still maintain your nobility. Examples of these tests are all there in our scriptures. Raja Harish Chandra, Raja Nal and Queen Damyanti were put through immense adverse situations to test their nobility. Once you pass the test, then God showers his complete blessings and takes you on the road to happiness.

Even Bhagwat Gita says “ You do your work, and leave the expectation of the fruits of your action (તું કર્મ કર. ફળ ની આશા છોડી)”. Just do your work, God will take care of rest. God calls upon you without expectation or reciprocation. Is it right behaviour that someone who is calling you so many times, does not get reciprocation? So should God give up? No! Because, God just has to do. That is what is satisfying. And then connection genuine with God builds up and communication starts.

If God did not really care, would all these messages have come to you? Would he hear all your complaints and work on the same? God is most gracious and most merciful (પરમ કૃપાળુ, પરમ દયાળુ). He makes us suffer not even 1/100 of what we deserve.

But then you ask, “Why nothing happens to wrong doers”? Remember there is no injustice in the world. Everyone is bound by their karma. Those who are enjoying are enjoying fruits of their previous good karma and those who are suffering are suffering fruits of their previous bad karma. How we decide to act currently in our current situation will decide our future karmas. If we react wrong, we will get bad karma. If we react right, we wipe out this karma and walk faster to almighty.

Remember nothing is constant. Today who suffers will enjoy later and those who enjoy today will suffer later. It is not necessary that this change will occur in one birth cycle. It may occur in next births. Thus, when seen with limited vision, it appears that injustice has occurred. Your way of reacting to a situation will decide your next suffering or joy for you.

If God did not care, he would have not explained you so much, would not have tried so hard to get you out, would not have said, “Hold my hand, I will take you with me”. If you catch his hand, he will get you out of this whirlpool for sure. But you need to hold the hand.
