Shakti converts jad (lifeless) to Chaitanya (life). Shakti converts potential energy to kinetic energy (E=mc2. Mass can be converted to energy by shakti). Shakti is unchanneled. Unchannelised shakti can be put to good use or bad use. Nal and Mani used unchannelised shakti for bad means. Shakti when channelized is used for good. Shiv is the channel-o-Pati. Shiv always channelises shakti to right direction. Hence where shakti is there, Shiv is there. Only Shiv cannot convert jad to chaitan. The 52 shaktipeeths are places where unchanneled form of shakti body parts fell. Thus, they are areas of Prakhar (immense) shakti. To channel their energy in right direction, Shiv was holding shakti.
In Kailash too, Shiv-shakti exist. South face of Kailash is also called Ardhnareshwar. South face of Kailash faces Aryavarta. Thus, energy is flowing towards Aryadesh in right direction. South face also faces Ashtapad, Nandi parvat, Siddhgiri kshetra. Thus, Shakti exists in Siddhgiri kshetra in Chaitanya form. Siddhgiri kshetra is shaktipeeth. To channel energy in right direction is Kailash (abode of Shiv). Shakti also exists at Gauri kund. North face of Kailash resembles hood of cobra (naga). It faces China suggestive that negative forces should remain in control or else poison (vish) of cobra (naga) will control them. West face of Kailash has a door present which is the entry into Kailash. This is based on Vaastu shastra (science of architecture) of east – west theory of door facing. Normally as per vaastu, door should face in the east (towards the rising sun). However, for Kailash, door comes in west as sunsets suggestive that when individual ends, the soul gets liberation, it gains entry into Kailash.
Initially Shakti was not married to Shiv. Shakti used to work on prakriti (nature) through devas - rain, sun, clouds, wind etc. But Shakti was not channelized. Thus, lot of natural calamities took place. Shiv had a difficult time controlling this. Thus, marriage of Shiv Shakti took place. Whenever Shakti goes out of control, there is lot of destruction. Only Shiv can get Shakti back in control. Thus, whoever does sadhana of Shakti should also worship Shiv. Sadhana of Shakti is always of Shiv-Shakti.
