Birds of a feather flock together,
Yet when you cry, you cry alone too.
A rolling stone gathers no moss,
Yet discretion is the better part of valour, is what we do.
Try and try till you succeed,
Yet open not doors when opportunity knows for you.
What you give comes back to you,
Yet a pennywise, pound foolish is what we do.
Age old idioms give wisdom to us,
Yet grass is always greener on the other side of the fence too.
Digging our own graves are we,
Yet clutch at reeds as we sink is what we do.
Bird in the hand is worth too in the bush,
Yet greediness leads to a Midas touch too.
See not the silver lining in the clouds,
Maybe already on the clouds we are too.
God save us, God save us,
But then god creates and man discards and new idioms and meanings continue.
