As soon as you enter Sabarmati ashram, on the right side, where there is an open clearing with trees is the place where Rishi Dadhichi used to do his havan (fire worship). Hawan was for jagat kalyan (world welfare). Thus, in that land (ભૂમિ), any sankalp (determination) of jagat kalyan will be fulfilled. Mahatma Gandhi’s sankalp for freedom for India got success. Vinobha Bhave’s mission also got success. Anyone who does sankalp of jagat kalyan at this place will find success. However, personal life gets sacrificed. Gandhiji and Kasturba did not enjoy personal peace. Vinobha Bhave was also lived an unmarried life.
Sabarmati means sabar = sharp as sword and mati = means buddhi (intellect). Then anyone who stay in areas around Sabarmati will get sharp mind.
In this land of Rishi Dadhichi’s ashram, Lord Vishnu, Lord Mahesh and Lord Brahma have visited many times and blessed the place. Rishi Vishwamitra has also visited the place and written a poem in its honour. Vashishta rishi has also visited this place with Kamdhenu cow.
