Sonmarg: Son (સોન) means gold and Marg means path. It is the golden path to salvation. Here salvation occurs through the path of sky. In Sonmarg near Thajiwas glacier, there are 2 caves.
1. Shiv cave
2. Vishwamitra cave. Here Sage Vishwamitra has left the blessings that just as he created another world (શ્રુષ્ટિ), similarly all those who come here will create lot of new things.
There is a mountain next to Thajiwas glacier that has a temple complex on the top. This is temple and palace of Divine mother. On that mountain grows bhojpatra (ભોજપત્ર, birch bark). Golden leaves of that bhojpatra are soaked overnight in water and when that water is drank, it leads to salvation. The golden leaves denotes golden path.
Near Baltal is Neelgrar parvat (Blue mountain). It denotes Neelkanth swaroop (form) of Shankar. It takes away all poison (negativity) in a person’s life. No negativity will now affect you.
Near zero point comes Amarnath parvat (mountain). Next to Amarnath parvat is ‘OM’ parvat. Very near to OM parvat is cave of Mahavtaar Babaji where he trained Adi Shankracharya. On backside of Amarnath Mountain are carved figures of Shiv and Parvati. The mountain denotes tantra of Shiv.
Gulmarg: Gul means rose, marg – means the path to salvation. In Gulmarg, we offer rose to Shiv because this is the path to salvation. In Gulmarg, there is also a tomb of Payamuddin (Baba) Reshi.
