Trishul: It depicts Aum with a shaft. The shaft helps to penetrate and Aum converts anything to Godliness on penetration. Thus, ego is converted to ‘i’ (‘I’ is converted to ‘i’ on penetration). Thus, the demon Mahisasura (ego) was killed by trishul.
Sword: Sword cuts anything and leads to loss of blood. Thus moh (infatuation) and vasanas (lust) which reside in blood are killed by sword. Moh and vasanas as the two demons – Shumbh and Nisumbh.
Khadak: Khadak separates the head from body. It detaches your desires. Thus, it was used to kill the demon Raktabeej (desires). Along with that khapar (vessel) is used so that desires do not regerminate.
Gada: It is mace that gives blows to the feeling of pride (માન) and insults (અપમાન)in you. Thus to kill the seeds of false flattery (demon madhu) and criticism (demon kaitab), gada (mace) is used.
Bow and Arrow: Bow and Arrow converts your ignorance to knowledge, gives direction and focus. Thus it is used to kill the demons Chand (ignorance) and Mund (without focus).
Dhumralochan: To kill the demon Dhumralochan does not require any weapon. It is just subdued by the air blown from the divine mother’s mouth. Just as fire is defused by blowing it out, similarly anger is just blown away by right understanding (symbolised by book and veena in the mother’s hand).
Chakra: The wheel (chakra) spreads the energy of divine mother in the world. It destroys all the negative forces in the world.
